Nebraska's Next Pheasant Hunters
Welcome to the next generation in conservation and pheasant hunting enthusiasts. In efforts to help our younger generation play a larger role in our efforts to conserve and provide habitat for upland game, our chapter provides today's youth with opportunities to learn about what Pheasants Forever is truly about. Nebraska provides conservation educational materials, safety of firearms and mentor youth hunts for those kids who may not have the same opportunities as most. Youth Hunter Safety and Education
Neligh Area Youth Hunter Safety Classes are normally scheduled in September each year. Class times are 8:30a.m. - 1:30 p.m. both days. Students will go the shooting range on the final day. The class is FREE and is sponsored by the Nebraska Game and Parks, the Neligh Young Men's Club and the Antelope County Shooters Club. There is a deadline to register so watch this page for our 2024 dates. All Youth must be age 11 by September 24th to get their certification. The class is open to all ages including adults.

While we all like to have fun in the field and chase pheasants for miles, safety is one of the most important aspects. We promote and encourage hunter safety in the field. Through these classes and education we show both youth and adults the proper ways to hold, maneuver and proper gun care. Getting those who are not familiar with a gun, comfortable with handling their firearm so that they can enjoy their hunts successfully. Annual Youth Mentor Pheasant Hunt
Our Annual Youth Mentor Hunt is held in October of each year. It is generally the weekend before opening pheasant season. Call Mike at 402-649-5725 for more information. The hunt generally starts at the green building on south HWY 20 next to Flenniken Plumbing and Heating south of Neligh.
Pheasants Forever mentored pheasant hunts are the ideal way to introduce kids and teens to hunting, as experienced volunteer hunters from Pheasants Forever coach youth on the importance of firearm safety, wildlife habitat and hunting technique.
